What makes you Itch: Inspirational video

I stumbled across this video: What Makes You Itch. This video talks about how people revolve their life around doing what makes you money. What if money were no object, what would you do? what would make you happy? It is interesting to think about this, everyone does jobs they do not enjoy because they need to make money, because they need money to survive. It is better to be unhappy and have money? or is it better to do what you love? I found this video very interesting and inspirational. I think we should always encourage our students to do things that make them happy and to not worry about money. However, this is hard to do when everyone needs money to survive.

What do you think of this video?

  1. I agree, People are always working at jobs they don’t enjoy because they have to. So many people develop certain lifestyles that need to be accomadated by the money they make. It is sad that not many people will give up money for something they love. My boyfriend was in a situation similar to this. He wa an instructor at Siast foe 7 years. He taught the same thing year after year and began to hate his job. Unlike most people he took the plunge and quit!! This was something scary for him because he thought, well what if I hate my new job how and I supposed to go have to my old one….there was no chance of this. Needless to say he loves his new job and I am so proud of him for taking the chance and now he loves his job!

  2. Thanks for commenting! I give credit to anyone who has the guts to quit their job not knowing what else is out there. In the winter I quit a job that paid good but made me unhappy and I didn’t know if I would find another job. Then I ending up working at Booster Juice, which was fun and relaxing and I never regretting quitting my job. Life is supposed to make you happy so sometimes you need to be fearless and do what will make you happy.

  3. I have seen this video several times! I love how it is phrased because if we were to speak to our children and students like this I imagine their future goals would be so different. I think it would be cool to do a project related to this video to see what students would come up with. It is also interesting to consider this question for ourselves.
